Candidate Requirements & Form 29

This section will help you understand the requirements to be eligible to be a candidate, the election offences and many other relevant information.

Form 29

All Intending Candidates both male and female, including sitting MPs are required to complete a form each and submit with 4 passport size photo to PNGEC before or by Tuesday 17th January, 2017.

There’s no legal implication on this form, but it is only an administrative matter for the PNG Electoral Commission in preparation for the 2017 National Election, wishes to create a database for all intending candidates so that after the nomination and the Issue of Writs on April 20, 2017, it would be easier and much faster to get candidate details already in the database, especially, their photos and party leader (if party endorsed) and do Candidate posters for the 2017 National Election.

All Intending Candidates who are still not sure which party you will be endorsed in, you must go ahead and complete the form 29 and put as ‘TBA’ (to be advised) on section for party and submit before January 17th, 2017.  This is because if they put party details in form 29 and when they nominate, they nominate under another party, they’ll be put as ‘Independents’, unless they don’t come quickly to PNGEC and clarify themselves.
