1411 National Logistics Plan put in place for 2017 natel

PNG Electoral Commission is currently putting in place a national logistics plan and procurement management process for the 2017 elections with the assistance of Australian DFAT and New Zealand DFAT. It is going to be the master plan for the procurement and distribution of election materials across the country during the elections.

“The plan encompasses the polling schedules, transportation cost, election materials and costs including the procurement of big named items and their distribution to the provinces, districts, LLGs and even down to polling stations at ward level,” Electoral Commissioner Patilias Gamato said.

He said the first draft of the national logistics plan was out and discussed at the Roll Update workshop for Election Managers and Assistant Election Managers in Mt. Hagen last week.

Mr. Gamato said when the plan is finalized he will sign it off later this month on November 24 for implementation.

“After I sign off the national logistics plan, we (PNGEC) will share information with our development partners and donor agencies to see where they can assist in supporting the PNG Government in logistics and distribution for 2017 national election,” he said.

Logistics budget for 2017 national election is K127 million and Mr. Gamato is happy with the progress so far and thanked those who have committed their time and effort in developing the national logistics plan and procurement management process.
