He said that the electoral roll will be completed at the end of this month (May) and certified for print and will be distributed to all the electorates nationwide early next month (June).

Mr. Gamato said that PNGEC will require about 30,000 temporary electoral workers as polling and counting officials.

"Election materials ordered overseas like plastic seals and indelible ink are already here in the country."

"Ballot boxes and voting compartments are produced locally and will be purchased in-country."

In terms of the movement of election materials, Mr. Gamato said the PNG Defense Force and the Australian Defense Force are working closely with PNG Electoral Commission to dispatch election materials throughout the country.

He said that so far a total of 15 international and domestic election observers have registered to observe the conduct of the 2017 National Election, adding that the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) has been approached to coordinate election observation which they have agreed to do so.
