1605 Political parties urged to urgently submit their final endorsed candidates list

The Electoral Commission is urging political parties that have not submitted their official list of candidates after the close of nominations to do so as a matter of urgency.Electoral Commissioner Patilias Gamato says political parties have been given until 4pm this Thursday to submit their official endorsed candidates list.

“The cut off mark date is Thursday, May 18, 2017 for all the 45 registered political parties to submit their official list of candidates that they have endorsed to contest the 2017 election.”

“PNGEC will also not entertain candidates who wish to change their photographs.  Any change of candidates’ photographs and party listing will not be entertained as of Thursday, May 18, 2017.

“Time is fast running out to get the candidates’ posters finalized for printing and dispatching to all the 10,798 polling places nationwide prior to commencement of polling on June 24.”

“Political parties that fail to submit their final list of endorsed candidates in the given time will have their candidates marked as ‘independent’ on the candidates’ posters for each electorate.”

Meanwhile, PNGEC and the Deputy Registrar of Political Parties John Bishop are meeting with all the registered political parties tomorrow (Wednesday, May 17, 2017) to check and verify party listings.

Arrangements for the printing of candidates’ posters are also underway.
