2002 PNGEC putting together its new 2018-2022 corporate plan

The PNG Electoral Commission is now working on its new corporate plan which will cover the period 2018-2022 as the last corporate plan expired on December 31, 2017.

“There has been a series of workshops conducted by the strategic working group under different strategic pillars to develop the new corporate plan.”

“I have strongly encouraged staff at the HQ in Port Moresby and in the provinces to focus on the issues and challenges that PNGEC encountered during the 2017 National Election and plan for improvements.”

“This new corporate plan will take PNGEC into the next five years. And so the issues of the last corporate plan period will not be the same as current issues and issues that PNGEC will encounter in the future during elections.”

Mr. Gamato said that PNGEC hopes to complete the new corporate plan by the end of March 2018 and officially launch it.

“The new corporate plan encompasses major events such as the 2018 LLG elections, boundaries review, proposed organizational restructure, 2022 national election and proposed legislative changes to election laws, including use of technology to improve the electoral system in PNG.”
